PRESS CONFERENCE IN BERN

The report documents how European governments have taken a series of restrictive measures and sanctions against individuals and groups who defend the rights of refugees and migrants. One chapter of the report analyses various cases in Switzerland and compares the legal situation in Switzerland with provisions in other countries. The report is published on the eve of the debate in the Swiss Parliament on an amendment to Article 116 of the Foreign Nationals and Integration Act (Parliamentary Initiative Mazzone “Stop criminalising solidarity”).

The panel will include:

  • Manon Schick, director of the Swiss section of Amnesty International
  • Rym Khadhraoui, research fellow at Amnesty International and author of the report
  • Reto Rufer, asylum expert at the Swiss section of Amnesty International
  • Pierre Alain Mannoni, French human rights activist

The press conference will be held in German and French. Reporters will have the opportunity to ask questions and have one-to-one interviews following the press conference (English, German, French and Italian).
